Hello,
If you don't have Visio you can have difficulties to create some diagrams (usually for Network Architectures).
No more pain if you use this website: https://www.draw.io/
You can make basic and sophisticated diagrams.
Export them on pictures format or PDF.

What is the procedure if you want to modify the drawing afterwards? Is it reusable?

You can File/Save it. Format is .Xml
Then you can File/Open it later.
You can't re-use it with a third party like Visio.
You can export only as an image or Pdf.
