OPC Importer for PcVue
Release Notes:
- It only supports 32 bit environments. This is due to the fact that the OPC Foundation dlls that I have used in the tool have not been available for 64 bit platforms by the time of development.
- It only supports OPC DA 2.0. It should be working with OPC DA 3.0, too, but this has never been tested. No support for OPC XML!
- It is only available in English language.
- It is not a “real“ Smart Generator. This means it outputs XML that can be used as input for the Generic XML import. This implies that there is no real synchronization mechanism and settings applied within the Smart Generator OPC are not persisted.
The way it works is pretty much straight-forward:
- Select an OPC server.
- Apply some general settings, like PcVue internal OPC server name and default group, domain and nature, server and client list….
- Click “Browse”.
- Edit the variable names (similar to the Smart Generator WAGO) according to your needs.
- Click “Create XML” and store the output somewhere.
- Import the newly created XML file with PcVue’s Smart Generator for Generic XML.
- Done.
