Hello,

I got a question from a customer, who wants us to suggest some anti-virus software which can have better performance.

For the moment, they are using Windwos server 2003 R2, 32bits.

My idea is not to use with Kaspersky as it costs a lot of resources of the computer, and I met it twice that it killed PcVue with interactive mode when I launched PcVue.

Do you have some recommendation? Thanks.

Ciao ShuQuan, On Windows Server 2003 R2 personally I use Windows Security Essentials. It's free & easy. https://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download Use the XP version, it works properly also on WS2003R2. 😛

Nihao Filippo,

Thx, It's a good suggestion to use Windows Security Essentials. 🙂

Do somebody knows what else used in real projects(via router/internet)?

I am not sure it's really a good suggestion !! https://www.howtogeek.com/173291/goodbye-microsoft-security-essentials-microsoft-now-recommends-you-use-a-third-party-antivirus/

Thank you Nicolas!
Interesting link!

So ultimately for having a good antivirus on a server it's necessary to pay! B)
Even because with Windows Server 2012 the free option of WSE from Microsoft (even if not really reliable, as you highlighted but more or less working up to WS2008R2) doesn't work anymore and it's necessary to use the "System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection".

Anyway, in the past I have noticed the same bad behaviour of ShuQuan in a desktop environment using Kaspersky: "found possible threat on SV32.EXE" & deletion of our main executable. And the point is always the same: AV are constantly evolving and is completely misleading make a believable assessment.

Hello,

I have an additional question about antivirus programs. One of our customers is using Symantec v. 12.1.4013 Endpointprotection with PcVue 10.0. First PcVue did not start until we uninstalled the software. Now they made some changes to configuration of the antivirus software. They changed the restrictions and now PcVue is starting but while loading (after 15 sec) PcVue gets shut down by Symantec. So the questions are:
1. why is PcVue treated like bad software
2. which modules are treated like that
3. how to configure antivirus?
4. Is it a SPR?

Could somebody help?
Thank you
