Hi,

I need to make a quotation for tomorrow. Here is my architecture:
2 Stations with Pcvue Redundant servers collecting the data and recording in SQL Server.
1 Station (no PcVue) containing SQL Server.

One of the requirements is to send sms on alarm. The customer doesn't want to use the PcVue sms feature for specific reasons.
I was wondering using Alert in the 3rd station but I don't know 2 points:

1. Can Alert get the data from PcVue on the network? I know by OPC but I would like to avoid the Dcom headaches 😉

2. Can Alert able to manage the PcVue redundancy?

Thanks

Hello Niko

1. Can Alert get the data from PcVue on the network? I know by OPC but I would like to avoid the Dcom headaches

Alert can get the data from PcVue on the network via OPC or DDE. It's not recommended (DCOM,NETDDE,...) 😉

A new mediator will arrive with Alert 3.6 rev 2 or 3.7. It's a mediator based on WebServices

2. Can Alert able to manage the PcVue redundancy?

a) Alert can able to manage the PcVue redundancy if you install two Alert and two modems.

b) If you install one Alert with one PcVue server. The system is correct with limitations. Acknowledge and mask alarms can not go back to PcVue if the server is passive.
