Hello,

One customer told me their project lost most of the proprietary data files. There's only recent several days of data files, see attached screenshot. and the customer said he can query historical trend at the beginning of this Month.I think somebody deletes the data files. what's your opinion?

Except that He also have two problems:

  • The data files includes the data of 12th,13th of Dec.,but why PcVue cannot replay it,both trend viewer and Grid control?
  • I have no idea why.

  • In the screenshot,Why the serial number of data files for two neighbouring days are so different?
  • I think it is reasonable for the last file numbers.but why the file numbers of before 3 days are so small(31,32,33...)?

Do you have any advice? thanks in advance.

BRs
Mark

Totally forbidden to change the proprietary archive files. Doing this you have a lot of chances to corrupt them...

I also see some sort of discrepancy on file sizes, both the data files and index files.
In a "free-running" situation, when there is no one & nothing touching files, file size are usually very stable one after the other.
In addition to files being changed, there could be a scenario with a mismatch between memory buffer dumps (that would explain smaller file size), and overwrite linked to the max size of the archive unit ?

Regards

Hello Nico,

Histo.dat is also forbidden to change? they need to add lots of trends, so we need a fast way.

Hi Mark,

You can of course edit and modify CHisto.dat respecting the syntax expected (Use text editor instead of Excel) but while the project is stopped.

What should be known is some parameters have an impact on getting the existing archives. For example, even if the project is stopped, you cannot switch from "without attribute" to "With attribute" option (a quite old option)

Yes, Normally we advised customers to add some trends in PcVue, and then follow the rules to add by editing the files, after stopping PcVue, and only for adding trends. But it's possible the customer made some other modifications and didn't told us.
