Logs can be made during the startup phase of PcVue. We keep them aside and dispatch them 2 minutes after the loading is completed. The other historical server stations are supposed to be launched and therefore connected (60 seconds by default). If no workstation is connected the buffer is released (we lost the logs).
Making the buffer size configurable is not a good idea because it will be useful for very large projects that will need memory, so it is better not to consume more.
A spr has been made this month to improve the way it work, see SPR69150.

I think this can happen on large projects if during startup phase there is many issue with network, then variables becomes NS and are candidate to be archived…
The value 12000 comes from Dominique’s brain. He imagine that 100 logs per second during 2 minutes was largely enough ^^
