Hey Guyz,
Do you know if it's possible to have redondancy between 2 LON servers?
Thank you
Hi Gnaroum,
Maybe the answer is different for Asia for they have done something special once.
For Europe, the answer is: the redondancy is NOT possible with Lonworks (LCA Object Server)!
It is not due to PcVue but the technology itself. That's why some intagrator prefer when it is possible, using BACnet.
Bye
Edouard
Oh Great Thank you.
Yep, in Asia we always have a solution !! B)
We implemented a "Manual redundancy" that is working well on several sites. Note that we did it with an old Lonworks version. I don't know if we can still do it now.
On a Lonworks project, an Echelon software is always used to manage the different networks.I don't really remember the name of this software, it's something like "Server manager" or "Network manager"... Anyway this software is launched when Windows starts and allow you to check the status of the different Lonwork networks.
Usually the Designer add a shortcut in the Windows Startup folder to start it automatically.
Let say you have 2 servers S1 and S2. The trick is:
a. Don't add this shortcut in Windows startup folder.
b1. On S1 Startup:
If S2 not here then start the "Server Manager" software, wait several seconds, starts Lonworks communication by Scada Basic.
If S2 already started then do nothing.
b2. On S2 Startup:
If S1 not here then start the "Server Manager" software, wait several seconds, starts Lonworks communication by Scada Basic.
If S1 already started then do nothing.
c. On S1 (when S1 is active of course), detects the loss of LON communication using the PcVue system variable
d1. On S1: By Scada Basic, stop the Lon communication, kill the "Server Manager" software and set S1 as Stand-By.
d2. On S2: When it becomes Active, start the "Server Manager" software ans start the Lon communication.
That's all folks!!
Nico.... Where are my royalties?!?
I didn't know that the trick had been reused 😉
