Hello!
I have to quote an upgrade in v11.1 for an existing PcVue v.8.20 system composed by:
On SCADA layer:
- 2 x Redundant Stations (PcVue v.820) each one with
- Windows XP & PcVue v820
- OPC Server Siemens SIMATIC NET
- Communication Card Siemens CP5611 for Profibus/MPI
- Communication Card Siemens CP1613 for Profinet (S7 protocol over IP)
- 2 x Siemens S7-400 in redundancy - connected to the SCADA PCs via CP1613 cards
- 1 x Siemens S7-300 - connected via Profibus to the SCADA PCs via CP5611 cards
On the field:
Actually the existing PcVue is only an OPC Client of SIMATIC NET.
Since the customer like the idea to virtualize his SCADA System, I must get rid of any CP cards.
For the CP1613 I don't see big problems: 1 x Hilscher NL-50 module to convert Profibus & CIMWAY driver HILSCHER-NL
Question 1: Any experience about Cimway HILSCHER-NL driver with "no-vintage" 😆 versions of PcVue? I mean 10 or "11.x family"?
But my real concern is for the redundant S7-400...
Question 2: Any experience about Cimway IP-ISO S7 driver with a redundant couple of S7-400? I ask this because on Siemens website they wrote that the "Redconnect" software is required to talk with a redundant S7-400. (?With SIMATIC NET?) Maybe the native "Redundant node configuration" is enough but I prefer to be sure.
My orientation is to get rid of any Siemens communication stuff on SCADA-side (only 4500 tags, should be not too long to re-connect manually any tag) but I'm happy to evaluate any suggestions: comments or "experience sharing" are really welcome.
Thankyou!
HI Filipo,
I had an experience 2 years ago with S7-400 redundancy.
I used the PcVue build-in IP-ISO-S7 driver. At that time I got some issues but Manu fixed them "on the spot" and then no issues.
It worked perfectly.
Architecture was 6 PLCs each one having their own redundancy.
PcVue was communicating with about 60,000 data for each PLC meaning a total of 240,000.
Data flow: Polling = 1s, 56,392 data in permanent scan.
But in your case I dont understand your question as you planned communicating through the Hilshner OPC server meaning it will have managing the redundancy isnt?
Nico
Ciao Nico!
Thank you very much for your very useful & fast feedback.
Your data-flow statistics are really good!! You & Manu did a great job! :woohoo:
In this plant there're 3 PLCs: 1 redunded S7-400 with Ethernet card (total: 2 PLCs) and a single S7-300 with only Profibus DP interface.
My plan is to propose:
- Cimway IP-ISO-S7 for S7-400 using Ethernet
- Hilscher module & CIMWAY HILSCHER NL driver for the S7-300 without network card.
So for answering your question: the Hilscher module should be installed in the "single" S7-300 without Ethernet card. But... why you told me about the OPC Server for Hilscher?
Do you think better use the Hilscher OPC instead than the CIMWAY HILSCHER NL driver?
Thankyou!!
