Ciao a tutti,

I'm looking for any experience about data Exchange with a Siemens S5 PLC with actual PcVue versions, using Ethernet and without the needs of expansion cards and serial port in the PcVue machine.

This vintage family of Siemens hardware supports only a TTY/v.24 serial port using SINEC-H1 protocol and the customer founds this product that should convert everything into Modbus-IP:

http://industrial.softing.com/en/products/plc-connectivity/protocol-converter-horizontal-gateways/ethernet-to-ethernet-converter-for-several-protocols/echochange-ethernet-gateway.html

Any other experience/idea?

Thankyou! :silly:

Hi Filippo,

I have not been requested for S5 connectivity in quite a while now.
Originally, I thought that we can also use the Siemens Fetch/Write Cimway driver for connecting S5 equipment over Ethernet... but it seems only to be true for the S7 300/400 series. Maybe Emmanuel can give some further input on that..?

Anyway, looking into our official paper "Communication Drivers PcVue 11" it appears like Simatic Net or Matrikon are the suggested OPC servers for the SINEC H1 protocol.
