Hi,

I got a question from a customer who asked that in one project could PcVue communicate with about 2000 modbus slave(PLC and other system) and what about the performance?

If not, how could PcVue deal with the architecture of the 2000 equipment or ?

I could only find the kb about 100plcs: https://support.pcvuescada.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=62:open-modbus-tcp/ip-master-protocol-benchmarks&Itemid=71.

Thx very much!

Shu Quan,

I think nobody used only 1 PcVue collecting data with 2000 Plcs.

At least you should specify if it's modbus tcp/ip or serial.
Then you must request from your customer what performances he is expected. How many data? Polling period? Only bits or only registers or both?

May we know what type of application requiring 2000 PLCs?

Thanks for your comments!

It's a question from B&R's customer. It is said that there is a test platform but even B&R's engineer could not get more details from their customer. 🙁

Hi ,

Do you know the max amount of modbus slaves(PLC) have been connected to PcVue in a real project?

Here I got another customer who wants to know whether about 400-500 could work with PcVue or not as they may have about 150 base stations and each station may use 3 PLC.

In KB, I could only find a test with 150 PLCs.

Sorry Shu Quan, something is not really clear in your description.
What is a "Base station"?

Hi Nico,

The "base station" is a word in their industrial, we can treat it as a monitoring station with several PLCs.

OK, you mean your customer has about 150 stations to monitor (remote stations I guess). Each station has about 3 PLCs.
And he wants collecting those data with only 1 communication server.
Confirm?

So, I think we should support that. If I am not mistaken we should support about 1000 PLCs. But I am not 100% sure. I advise you ask this question directly to Dominique. Don't forget updating this post with his answer.

Then, the real question is: What performance your customer is expecting?

Hi all,

I have just came back from a customer site. In his project, with 2 redundant servers, there are 360 equipments and more than 1200 frames. > 95% modbus TCP/IP and < 5% ISO S7 (only one PLC).

The active server assume all communication at a time. And it is working fine.
Switching from passive to Active is also OK but we did not care about the recover time.

BR
Edouard

Hi Edouard,

Thanks for your info. It's good to know that we have a real project with so many equipments and frames.

Do you know the refresh time of sending a command and get the status back in this project?

Edouard, may be you can add one post in the Guiness Book Category: https://support.pcvuescada.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=category&catid=23&Itemid=501
