Hello everybody,

Do you have any experience with user management in PcVue?

We are looking for a real study case, a big one if possible. I think that the best way to create profiles in PcVue is to define all the needs in an EXCEL file. As we do during the training for example with a small table.

In real life the table can be bigger probably with many columns and many rows.

If you have this kind of table, or any other tool you may have, please send it to me asap.
We need to answer tomorrow for this.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ludo,

Personally I don't use to do like we explained in our training. I mean, instead, identifying each Profile property I do more by project function considering that the rest is not applicable (why defining recipe right if no recipes in the project?).

Here is an example of one spec. I did for a project few years ago.

1589=244 Profiles example

Ok so it works fine because there is less than 30 groups.

I think it becomes limited for big projects our 30 levels...
I will ask for an improvement.
Also it is strange that we can't associate one user to several profiles. It could be very convenient and we should just configure locally for the user which mimic to open at login, which scada to start...

Normally we can configure several profiles to 1 user. PcVue should merge the profiles properties if I am not mistaken.

Indeed, if you have more than 30 levels you are a bit stuck!

Yes it is possible to associate several profiles to a single user.

But one option must be selected first in the User account settings: Enable network dependant profile association.
In that case it seems that the first page defined in the first profile associated will be used. And profiles are sorted alphabetically.

Unfortunately it doesn't seems to be possible with active directory. It is not possible to associate one Windows group to more than one PcVue profile. I did not test on a real domain so I may be wrong.

Erratum: it doesn't work. For one station, one user can only have one profile.
We must take care because with the recent versions we can think it is possible since graphically in the user interface we can associate several profiles to a user. But in runtime, only one profile is applied. No merge of several profiles.
