Some of you may be aware already, and Edouard already sent preliminary information on Wednesday. Find below the first results of the investigations and recommendations.

Know that there are side effects on our products with recent Windows updates distributed by Microsoft since August 13th.
The list of suspected Windows updates is:

Windows update Applies to
KB4512508 Windows 10 version 1903
KB4511553 Windows 10 version 1809, and Windows Server 2019
KB4512501 Windows 10 version 1803
KB4512516 Windows 10 version 1709
KB4512507 Windows 10 version 1703
KB4512517 Windows 10 version 1607, and Windows Server 2016
KB4512497 Windows 10 version 1507 (RTM)
KB4512488 Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
KB4512518 Windows Server 2012
KB4512506 Windows 7 SP1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
KB4512476 Windows Server 2008 SP2

The issue potentially affects versions 11.0, 11.1, 11.2 and 12.0 of PcVue, and the corresponding FrontVue versions. Investigations for PcVue 10.0 are still in progress.
The symptom is that once one of these Windows update is installed, a fatal error occurs at startup for PcVue and FrontVue.

Recommendations :
We recommend users of our products to delay the installation of these Windows updates until a fix is available.
If such an update has been installed and the fatal error occurs at startup with PcVue or FrontVue, we recommend users to temporarily uninstall the specific Windows update.

Our teams are preparing fixes for the affected version of PcVue and FrontVue, they will be made available as soon as possible to permit our users (and all of us) to apply these Windows Updates swiftly.
Because it is a side effect of a Windows fix, it is possible that Microsoft will fix the fix in a later Windows update.

Note from Product Marketing:
In an attempt to figure out how quickly our users deploy Windows Update, I would be happy if you could send me an email when you hear about this from a user, including its name, sector, role (SI, end-user...), type of system, any regulation that applies...

Thank you

    Quick update:

No new Windows Update was rolled out since August 19th, so no fix from Microsoft at the time of writing.

Version 10.0 is affected since its Initial Release, version 9.0 and earlier are not.
So the definitive list of affected versions is: 10.0, 11.0, 11.1,11.2 and 12.0.

Where we are in term of production of fixed products:

    • PcVue 11.0, 11.1, 11.2 and 12 are available to customers since Tuesday.
    • PcVue 10.0 SP2 update has been produced, is being validated and should be made available later today.
    • OEM for v12: Half of the OEM for v12 are available to customers since Tuesday. The other half is being validated and should be made available later today.
    • OEM for older version: A bunch are available to customers since Tuesday. Some more will be produced, probably beginning of next week.

    Regards

A new KB article is available, it summarizes the potential issues when updating to the product versions that fix the Windows Update issue: KB1030

It will be used as a pointer in a coming emailing announcing the availability of product fixes.

It is missing a warning about BDS admin advanced settings that can be lost upon reinstallation. Will be added soon.

    Regards
