Hi,

After enabling advance security option in Pcvue settings when we try to modify password, PcVue checks for the past password history and gives a warning if the password is repeated. What is the time period or the number of passwords that PcVue remember and check before password modification?

TR,
Nitesh

Hi Nitesh,

In the help it is mentioned the following:

All passwords used in a project, including any that have expired or were used in deleted accounts, must be unique. An internal record is kept of the previous 1000 passwords to ensure this.

Hello Nico,

I saw the same statement on the help too but I did not reply here because I have a doubt with the statement.
"All passwords used in a project, including any that have expired or were used in deleted accounts, must be unique.". I remember there was another post on the forum about requirement to get unique password, and we have discussed that have unique password between all users is not logic. That would mean if I have password Abc123, and another user have the same password, he will receive error saying another user already use this password?

Also, I checked 1 of the user project with advanced security setting, and the user.dat is not encrypted, and I can see that last 6 passwords(including the current) are stored with the user detail.
But I did not find in help where it says last 6 password are stored, but i think it is not 1000. So maybe I misunderstand the statement in the help chapter.

Thanks,
Kantha

Hi Kantha,
Yes, maybe you have a project with 6 pwd stored but it doesn't means more than 6 are stored!
So, the best is to wait the answer of Joel as he is the referent of this function

Ah I think when you say "maybe you have a project with 6 pwd stored but it doesn't means more than 6 are stored!", you actually meant "doesn't means more than 6 are not stored."

And sure, we wait for the expert to chip in with the information B)
