Hello,
I have a customer who has a SMTP error when sending e-mails via gmail SMTP server:
2014/07/24,17:32:09.103,6,W,,6210,,1,Error on sending e-mail = Failure in the SMTP server or its port
2014/07/24,17:32:09.103,6,W,,6212,,1,Subject = Alarm
2014/07/24,17:32:09.103,6,W,,6214,,1,Recipient = e.ecochard@comcast.net
2014/07/24,17:32:09.103,6,W,,6216,,1,Profile = EmailProfile01
Moreover, that error appears only once even thought the event (sending an e-mail) is triggered several times.
I did a test with gmail and another SMTP provider. As with my customer, I got a SMTP error with gmail and everything worked with the other provider. The difference between the 2: gmail requires SSL encryption but not the other provider.
Has anyone encounter this can of issue?
Is there something specific to check?
Is it normal we don't have as many error as the number of time an e-mail should have been sent?
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Emmanuel Ecochard.
Hello again,
I forgot to say that the same configuration works in PcVue version 9 but not with PcVue version 10 and up. Apparently it stopped working when the new property "Delivery method" has been added to the SMTP server configuration.

Hi Manu,
Recently I tried with my Gmail account and had an error too.
I tried many things and couldn't manage to make it work 🙁
I think you should make a SPR and advise your customer using another provider.
About your last question: "Is it normal we don't have as many error as the number of time an e-mail should have been sent?"
I would say no.
Hello,
I actually found a simple workaround: Using port 25 instead of port # 465.

Indeed it works!!
How its possible as in Google gmail help they specified clearly to use the port 465?
Anyway, as long it's working....
Yes, Google recommends to use port 465. However, in on of ots technical support page Google they also recommend to try port 25 if ports 465 and 587 don't work.
