Hello,
We have the following requests:
We are using VMs on an Hyper-v cluster.
Question 1:
I want to know, if in case of a failover from Node1 to Node2 on the hyper-v cluster, if we have any chance of having problems with the license.
Question 2:
Also, to transfer files from the VM to the HOST, since they are in separate networks, what we do is mount the VHDX file of the D drive of the VM, and when we copy the files, we unmount and start the VM.
Will this impact the license as well? Although we do it only with the D drive?
Thanks,
Nico
I talked with niko and here are the answers

Not sure, it depends the way the cluster is done

There is no impact on the license
Ciao Nico!
I'm dealing quite often with these issues when PcVue runs in a cluster with software licenses: it impact node migration and VM backup & restore.
My suggestion, in order to be sure, is to ask your customer to generate a PcVue machine digital signature from his environment.
Then you can ask for a free-of-charge temporary software license, give it to your customer, and let your customer made all tests, including node switches and backup restore.
If it works: Go for software license
If fails: Ask your customer to re-generate another digital signature: maybe Niko can compare both signatures (before and after migration/restore) and see what changes are occurred and if it's possible to mitigate them.
Hope it helps,
Filippo
