I have the following request from a customer.
He uses events that trigger the sending of email messages. In over 95% of the events the notification is sent without any problem. But often times he sees the following error message in the event viewer:
6210: Error on sending e-mail: Failure in the SMTP server or its port
Because the error message is quite general (to me it means no response from SMTP server) and because the SMTP server is accessible most of the time, we suspect that in certain cases the SMTP server does not respond in time.
So the question is:
1. Is it possible to set the SMTP timeout for outgoing email messages?
2. Is it possible to generate more detailed traces?
