Hello,
Do you have a customer who uses many OPCServers communicate with PcVue OPC Client. what's the maxmum OPC Servers for one PcVue Client?

The answer from the customer is about 100.

OK that's quite a lot.
May we know a bit more on the context?
I mean:
- Do these clients are reading only or writing only or read/write?
- What client is it? Is it another HMI or just a communication gateway?
- Why so many?
Another points you must take care in term of limits are:
- How many groups created by Client. Imagine each client creates 10 Groups then we will have 1000 Groups.
- What Period and DeadBand will be requested? Meaning what is the expected dataflow (datachange per second)?

Sooooorry Nico, I mis-understood the customer's requirement. They will have many OPCServers communicating with PcVue OPC Client. There are around 100 OPC Servers and each server has about 1000 tags.

Hi Mark,
It is much better that way, PcVue as OPC Client.
Usually, even OPC server from famous companies are not connected to so many clients. I would say 5 is really the maximum.
Regarding the customer challenge, how do they test it?
Do they have up to 100 different OPC servers? Or they declare many times the same. It is not comparable at all.
For the first case, congratulations to your customer.
For the second case, the OPC server has to be very reliable.

Hi Mark,
I will have soon an answer from development team about the OPC Server limit and I will update this post accordingly.
But, the real important point is the loading of the computer. To evaluate it you must answer these questions:
1. How many PcVue clients to dispatch the data?
2. Is it only OPC data to collect or other data (Modbus, bacnet, etc...)?
3. Does the computer also an Archive Server?
4. What data flow is expected? Meaning: How many datachange per second per OPC Server?
Without these information we can't advise anything.
