Bonjour tout le monde!

More often, our customers ask if is it possible to integrate IP Cameras viewer in a PcVue mimic.

Sometimes I solved by incorporating the IP-Camera ActiveX provided by the manufacturer in the PcVue mimic. But I'm wondering if somebody of you know a general ActiveX that allows to manage different manufacturer of IP-Cameras (of course by adjusting his parameters like Streaming URL, port, username, password etc.).

As far as I know (but I could be wrong) the video-protocol is more or less compatible but is not the same for PTZ commands (Pan, Tilt & Zoom) which are very manufacturer-dependant.

I have tested some general-purpose ActiveX founds over the web, but PcVue crash quite easily when the ActiveX is loaded. Can you help me also to identify where could be the problem? Is an ActiveX failure or we can do something also inside PcVue to fix this behaviour?

In this case I have a customer with some Siemens-IP Cameras (no-PTZ so it should be more easier) and apparently he doesn't have the original Siemens ActiveX then he asked us to suggest a compatible one...

Thank you very much, any idea or suggestion is very appreciated.

I don't think it exist such a magic ActiveX.

Basically if the ActiveX is working on an EXCEL spreadsheet then it should work on PcVue.

First thing to do is to test on EXCEL.

Hello,

after some headache, I finally found an ActiveX that seems to be good to display IP-Camera videos in a PcVue Mimic. It's provided from AXIS but I found a simple trick to adapt it to a wide range of manufacturer and devices.

The only prerequisite seems to have a MJPG (Motion JPG) compatible camera, but the very cheap cameras I have in my office (€ 50,00) from different unknown Chinese manufacturers seems to works well.

I attach a draft of this "experiment", of course it's an open discussion so I'm happy to receive feedbacks:

I hope this stuff will be useful for someone.
