PDB files: What is it?
- The PDB files can help diagnose where a crash occurred.
- The PDB files are generated when building the product.
- Only the redistributables PDB files are delivered with PcVue.
They contain information relative to the program and dll, and are used to generate a crash report.
This report is then sent to development team, who interpret it.
There are 2 kinds of PDB:
- Redistributables PDB
- Full PDB
- Sometimes they are sufficient to diagnose.
- Sometimes, development team ask you to install "Full PDB" to get a more detailed crash report.
This topic is useful in the second case 😉
