PDB files: What is it?

  • The PDB files can help diagnose where a crash occurred.
  • The PDB files are generated when building the product.
  • They contain information relative to the program and dll, and are used to generate a crash report.
This report is then sent to development team, who interpret it.
There are 2 kinds of PDB:
    - Redistributables PDB
    - Full PDB

  • Only the redistributables PDB files are delivered with PcVue.
  • - Sometimes they are sufficient to diagnose.
    - Sometimes, development team ask you to install "Full PDB" to get a more detailed crash report.
This topic is useful in the second case 😉
