Hello,
i have a question about OPC Core Components.
Every time you install PcVue, the OPC components are automatically downloaded.
But because of the version of PcVue, the downloaded OPC components are 64-bit and 32-bit?
Question 1
When the Windows operating system is 64-bit, whether the OPC components are 64-bit or 32-bit, should they be the same?
Question 2
Why is there a difference in the downloaded OPC components (64-bit and 32-bit) due to different versions of PcVue, is this an improvement?
Hello Bian
Before installing PcVue, the setup will first check for the installation status/version of some prerequisites. I don't have the latest list right now, but below is the final list as of the beginning of PcVue 15 production.
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 (x86 and x64)
Visual C++ 2017 Update3 Redistributables (x86)
Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable - 14.23.27820 (x86)
Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable - 14.23.27820 (x64)
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 System CLR Types x64
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 System CLR Types x86
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 Management Objects x64
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 Management Objects x86
OPC Core Components 3.00 (106.0) x86
If PcVue detects the equivalent version or a newer version has been installed during the installation, the prerequisite will not be installed again.
As per the list I have, PcVue requires OPC Core Components 32 bit. I am not sure, but maybe your Windows 7 machine already has the 64-bit version installed before starting PcVue installation, and thus the 32-bit version is not installed?
Hello, kantha
Thank you for you reply.
According to the customer's description, when they installed PcVue11.1 in the Windows7 environment, the installed OPC components were 64Bit.
But when PcVue15.2.1 is installed in Windows10 environment, the installed OPC component is 32Bit.
I think it is possible that PcVue has different bitness of installed OPC components because of different versions. (PcVue·11 is 64Bit, while PcVue15 is 32Bit)
Hello Bian,
It could be as you said, there was a different requirement for PcVue 11.1, but I could not confirm it because I do not have the old document for PcVue 11.1 setup. I will try to clarify it with the developer, as I am curious too.
But regardless, I can assure you for 15.2.1, the 32 bit OPC Core Component is the good one, and normally is qualified before release. You can check the version to be installed after mounting the DVD under the path : :PrerequisitePackages
Thanks,
Kantha
Hello,Kantha.
Thanks Reply.
I investigated the installation files for PcVue11.1 and PcVue15.2.
It is found that in PcVue11.1, there are two versions of OPC components, X86 and X64.
But in PcVue15.2, only the X86 version is seen.
I know the x86 version is available, but one thing to be sure about is when the x64 version of the OPC component was removed and if it can be found in the release Note?
