Hello all

Has anyone used the SVBATCH instruction in a real project? It looks like I will have to use it to fulfill a customer requirement and I wanted to see if anyone had some practical experience.

I know that there is a sample project - but a sample project and a real project are two very different things  .

Cheers, Robin

Hello Robin,
The JUMO layer (PcVue OEM "SVSxxxx") uses SVBATCH fonction for 10 years.
It works well from version 7 to version 9.
Because SVS3000 stays in PcVue9, I never use the function in version 10 & 11.

Hi Raphaël

Is it possible to obtain a copy of the "JUMO Layer"? Just so I can see what has been done. SVBATCH has many modes and I don't suppose all of them are really used. It would be good to know which modes are in use regularly and therefore can be assumed are well tested.

Cheers, Robin

I think almost all modes are used.
But I have a general remark: SVBatch is like managing a table in a database. It has been done long time ago and, frankly speaking, if I had to do the same thing today I would do it by VBA and a custom table in SQL Express (or Access).

Robin, if Raphael sends you the Jumo package you will have a lot of difficulties to understand how it works as it's quite rich and complex...

What is the request from your customer?

Hi Nico thanks for the input.

Unfortunately my VBA expertise (or lack of it) would not be enough which is why I was going to use SVBATCH.

Don't yet have a clear spec from the customer other that he wants to create and search batch records. The start and end times of each batch will probably also be used to configure a trend viewer. It's a food process making breadcrumbs (really) in batches. Also uses some fancy nested recipes which will be linked to the batch.

I don't think it will be that tricky, my main concern was that SVBATCH is not used that often and I didn't want to be the first to discover any strange behaviors...

BR, Robin

Hello,

There are some functionnalities in Dream Report regarding Batches and ODS wants to improve that point in next version.

I will add a post on the good section just for information.

Maybe it can help.

By the way, Robin, there is a SVBATCH sample project in KB.
If you can please try it with the V11 as it's a part of qualification. And this one nobody did it so far...
