I am looking for a FREE Modbus TCPIP simulator that we can use for the training. I am looking for both a Master and a Slave. I have found one slave simulator (mod_RSsim) that works OK but the interface is a bit tricky to use.
Before we used a simulator that was a commercial offering (ModbusPoll & ModbusSlave). It was nice but you had to pay for each install or use demo mode which only lasted 10 minutes...
Any suggestions?
Cheers, Robin
Sometimes we use this tool that Vincent knows well: dead link
monitor.jar Right clic on it and select open.
Sorry the link is dead.
I have the tool but don't know if I have the right to upload it here.
I found an interesting url www.modbus.org with many tools ( http://www.modbus.org/tech.php) and one in particular seems to be impressive:
Hello Robin,
In my traning I always use modRSSim (www.plcsimulator.org) and in my opinion it's easy and powerful.
It allows you to see Modbus exchanges, you can disable one or more particular slave address, there's also a simple scripting language to make simulations etc and of course you can force some addresses from his GUI.
You can also easy monitoring the number of master connected and the amount of reply (useful to show, during training, what happen if all stations ask to the PLCs and what happen if you correctly set client/server lists).
I'm a little surprised that you have found this one tricky, why you are not convinced?
I ask this because I think modRSSim better than the one included in the training kit... 🙂
Thankyou! 😆
