PDF could not be use to train...

There's too much information on the screen and it's impossible to display a full page, it's too small!!

I think my answer cannot be "Black or White": PPT files would be useful for some discursive chapter or for some of them that have a bit of theoric introduction, as a complement for the PDF file. For example, in SV_FORM1, I can imagine some PPT as introduction for the theoretical part of these chapters:

- Module 2 : PcVue Solutions Overview
- Module 3 : Version policy and licenses
- Part of Module 4 with Project concepts
- Module 5 : Study case
- Module 7 : Introduction to Variable tree
- Module 8 : Introduction to PLC driver
- Module 12: Alarms overview
- Module 15: Smart Generator Overview
- Module 16: OPC Concept
- Module 18: Network architecture overview
- Module 19: Archive unit overview
...etc

To resume, I think that PDF files like now are essential. If we had also some PPT as "introduction" for the first part of some chapter it would be useful: they can become a "support" during the theorical explanations when you're just speaking without doing exercises. Inside of these PPT files, we can place an hyperlink to open directly the PDF file when necessary.

For exercises parts I think PPT files not enough ergonomic and I still prefer PDFs (You can easily reduce to icon, move or resize the PDF window).

It is also better here to show the solutions of them during the training, using animations in the ppt format.

For me the best would be to have both but of course it is an additional work to do.
We leave PDF as it is but we add PPT only for the trainer without all the theoretical text (or only in comments), without the exercices (only ref to the exercises and answer area already filled) and better look and feel with animations top moumoute la classe.

I fully agree with Ludo. For me we should have ppt for trainer and pdf for trainee. We (Atys) don't use your docs, we write ours. We thought about ppt and pdf but for now it's too much work to write two differents documents for each training.

Let's say in this case the poll is about support file format for trainer only.

For your information, I attached in this post the specifications done in 2008. Sorry, at that time, I did it in French only 🙁
There is one important requirement that I missed at that time: The training modules must be printable.

Also 1 part was missing in the specifications document: Who is using these manuals?
Keep in mind the trainer could be also somebody which is not from Arc Group. It could be a SI or a distributor.

@Loick: Printing 1 ppt containing animations looks difficult isn't? :whistle:
Also we give the opportunity to the trainee to add his own comments in the PDF. It is not really possible with PPT as not all trainees have powerpoint. Therefore I really disagree giving PPT modules to trainees.

But anyway, using a PPT for the trainer only could be a good idea. Why not?
The real problem I can see is that we will increase dramatically the time to make a module. Don't forget 1 module is done first by Robin in English, then translated by Mireille in French. Then it should be translated by Mark in Chinese and also by Nono in Japanese!!

At least we could experiment it for 1 module of the coming SV_NEWS. AiGrid improvements could be a good candidate.
Who is volunteer to do it?

I can do an example about one existing module to discuss it during the next services meeting.

We should not do it for the moment on new one, to see differences between pdf and ppt.

French PPT Training are present on the 10.0.0.13 : 11.2/FRA/SVFORM1.

Better integration will be provided for the version 12.
