Hi Team,
We recently did a project update on client site from PcVue 11.2 to PcVue 12.0.
After the update for several days, we received a complaint today that there is a security animation that they use in project, which used to work in 11.2 but now not working in 12.0.
Upon checking the help, I found that it was stated in 12.0 help in the Webvue limitation section, but not in 11.2 help file.
Is this intended or missed out? And any plans to add support for this, because if it works in 11.2, it should also work in 12.0?
And also, does anybody else encounter same problem, and have workaround to implement similar functionality using other webvue compliant animations?
Thanks,
Kantha
Hi Kantha,
The security animation covers many different things, from login & logout to showing user information, double signature...
In 11.2 (and earlier), part of that used to work, not everything. Mostly (if not only) logout if I recall correctly.
Not mentioning any limitation in the help was a mistake.
And we fixed that mistake in the help of v12. Hence the indication of limitations in the help now.
In addition, at the product level, we cleaned up many things that were not working properly in WebVue, and also many things that were not intended or should not have worked.
For example, changing the back end workspace title text used to work via WebVue, and no longer works in v12, because, no, you do not want to let anyone change the back end workspace from a web client. Same goes for the login and logout via script or security animations. For the sake of a secure implementation of the session management and OAUth tokens handling, we needed to prevent login from something else than the login page, and prevent the logout from something else than the logout button in the WebVue system toolbar.
This is probably what your customer found out: Login or Logout animation no longer effective ?
If yes, this is intended, if it is anything else that no longer works, please let us know, we may have missed something.
And feel free to tell us more about the use case.
Regards
Hi Benoit,
First of all, thanks a lot for your reply, and I am sorry for not being detailed in the actual animation that the user had problem. Our client was actually using Double Signature Animation for sending command to equipment.
Even when I was discussing with Nico.K he was surprised because he thought this animation is not supported in PcVue 11.2.
I asked my client, and he mentioned that he did not test it by himself, but Webvue 11.2 has been running for so long and they never had complaint from their user before, and now they have. Probably for the benefit of doubt, I will make a test myself to see if it was really working in 11.2 before this.
Thanks,
Kantha
Please check both in 11.2 and 12, both with a valid counter signature, and a failed counter signature (wrong password for the second signature for example ?)
Your reply refreshed something else on my side that your test is going to prove, and I feel like we are not going to like the conclusion...
Reality strucks us sometimes.
For information, in 12.0 and according to the screenshot customer sent us, when clicking on the button no dialog is appearing 🙁
Nico
Any news from the tests that were to be done in 11.2 and 12 ?
Regards
Should be done this week
Nico
We have a client who discover that Security Animation are not available on WebVue.
For his case, the project is for pharmaceutical company and they need to use Security Animations and they use an Active Directory ?
What should be our answer for theses cases ? To not use Webvue feature if secrurity animation is needed ?
As far as an official answer is concerned, these animations are clearly indicated as not supported in WebVue.
In the topic related to the WebVue functionality checklist, the online help mentions these animations in the list of the main restrictions:
- Security - User confirmation animation
- Security - Double signature animation
- Security - Password animation
This being said, we are waiting for more tests to understand the exact behavior (in 11.2 and 12), before setting up a plan.
Regards
