One of you has ever tried to connect an USB modem for Alert on an Ethernet / USB hub (like DIGI http://www.digi.com/fr/products/usb/anywhereusb#models)?
Thanks
information from Micromedia:
Micromedia have some issue with anyWhere USB and ISDN modems.
For GSM modem they advise to use Moxa nport 5110 because with anywhere USB you must add an USB-Serial converter
Today I have done one funcky thing.
I have plugged an USB GSM modem to a AnywhereUSB Digi HUB connected to the same TCP/IP network than a Virtual machine running Windows 7 64 bits. With Alert 3.6 Rev1 b18 I am able to send me an SMS with this architecture.
Unfortunately it is not plug and play AT ALL!
Here is the procedure to configure it properly:
MultiTech MTCBA GSM Modem over AnywhereUSB Digi port
On a virtual machine running Windows 7 64 bits.
1/ Switch the network adapter of the VM into Bridged
2/ Connect the Multitech USB Composite device to the VM (Disconnect from host)
3/Download the driver from MultiTech web site and install it on the VM
4/Reboot
5/ Install drivers from the AnywhereUSB CD drive
6/ Configure your AnywhereUSB Hub to be on the same network if needed (right click in the configuration utility)
7/ Connect your AnywhereUSB Hub to the VM (right click in the configuration utility)
8/ Unplug the MultiTech modem from the Host machine
9/ Plus the MultiTech modem to the AnywhereUSB Hub
10/ Go to the Device manager of Windows
11/ Double click on the Composite Device (installation failed at that time)
12/ Click on Update driver and select Browse my computer for driver software
13/ Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
14/ Select Ports (COM & LPT) in the list and click Next
15/ Select Multi-Tech Systems Inc. in the Manufacturer list and choose your model in the Model list. Click Next
16/ Click Yes on the Update Driver Warning dialog box
17/ Windows will install the driver. Click Close
18/ Reboot the VM
Thank you Anthony for the valuable help 🙂
