Hello,

A question has been raised recently: Do we have to maintain the HDS managing Access archives?

So, I come to you guys to have your feedback.
Do you know if our customers are using it?
If yes, did you see a lot of?
And do you know how they are using it (write only for third party software, using in our trendviewer/logviewer, etc..)

Thanks,

Nico

As far as I know it is not possible to maintain an Access DB. Impossible to purge, shrink, clean...

So it is simply not usable in a project since we know it is limited to 2Gb of size.

I met my first customer (since 8.10)using HDS Access Database last week (tecnnical support). He uses it to save some energy value at a low frequency. I said him to prefer SQL than Access.

By default when AE create an access database its max size is set to 200Mo. To change it you have to edit HDSCONF.DAT

Off the top of my head I do not remember a project using archiving in Access. But no guarantee that there is really none in Germany/Austria/Switzerland...

And do you know how they are using it (write only for third party software, using in our trendviewer/logviewer, etc..)

If I remember well it can also be used for recipes management, right?

I think you can use Access for recipe but only with an ODBC connection
