Hello everyone 🙂
One of the Russian customers searching for a replacement for SQL database for PcVue.
Proprietary archives are not good enough because the replication is not possible.
Full SQL Server is too expensive to buy and Express have limitations of size. Only ODBC remains.
Are there any list of databases successfully used by customers with PcVue through ODBC? Or can you recommend something or just give the names of used variants?
Also what about new DbConnect in PcVue 12? Can it help somehow?

Hi Anna,
I know some customers are using MySQL (don't know what version) and it looks working. But, I have no idea about the performances.
Another point to consider: If connection with DB is out there is no local consolidation in a buffer.
About version 12: DBConnect will allow to record data in a DB like MySQL. But it is done 'manually' by Scada Basic or by external code through Manager Toolkit.
For your russian customer I advise first to ask the requirements. How many trend records per seconds? Logs per second?
How long to keep the data (in month or year)?

Your customer seems to want to pay anything.
That apporach comes with inconvenience. The key is the performances if they use MySQL for instance.
Since the writing and retrieval of data uses ODBC you cannot expect great perfromacnes. But is the volume of record is not big that could do the trick.
