Hello,
A client is doing some communication tests, here is the architecture:
PcVue as IEC 104 Server - 1 client IEC 104
They configured two types of variables: registers (object type : 36) and bits (object type : 30). Most of them are on command, so DE writing, and they put the same IOA address for read and write.
The communication and the reading is going well for the client, but the client cannot write on PcVue because of "incompatible format". The client asks for object type : 45 (bits) and 50 (registers).
We tried also with a IEC 104 client simulator and he can send commands.
I attached the PICS for the client.

Did you already have this situation?

Thank you!!

Hello again,

I attach a file showing some messages on wireshark:
1. Command sent to a PcVue bit variable without success
2. Command sent to a PcVue register variable without success

BR,

Claudia

Hello,
From the message on the screenshot and with Google; it means:
"ICCC_UNSUPPORTED_COMMAND_TYPE, The value of the TY attribute written to an output process object is not a type id of a supported ASDU." And it seems the customer is using an ABB soft I guess.

-I understand PcVue is acting as a 104 server and ABB is a 104 client;

-The wirehark seems to be the request from the client; do you have the reply from PcVue 104 server to these commands 45 and 50 types?

-Do they have this behavior on all variables controllable?

-You mean with another 104 client, they were able to send a command to PcVue?

BR,

Grégoire

Hello,

Thank you Grégoire for your help! My answers:

- It is right
- The log files is enough or do you need the Wireshark files on PcVue side?
- They tried some of them, not all I guess
- Yes, on local (same machine than PcVue) with the simulator Qtester104, we didn't try remotely. I will ask them to do that and to give me the traces.

I will ask the costumer for more information.

BR,

Claudia

Hi,
-We need the detail of the line in wireshark where PcVue is answering to the client for the writting request.

-Another question; are they able to send command to a Simulator Server 104 from their 104 client?

-Is there a possibility to create "kind of new project" + 1 variable in their 104 client in order to see if with default configuration the communication is better?

Hello,

Ok, I note, I will ask the client and come back to you. Do you recommend to add some traces in PcVue?
In the attached zip file you can find some mails with attached documents (wireshark file and log files).

Note: "BESS Demonstrator sending reactive power setpoint.msg" is the missing attachment on "Mail_2.msg"

BR,
Claudia
