Hello all,

I got a question from a customer yesterday. He asked that will PcVue support to use the OpenLDV API to communicate with the Lonworks DDC, with this API, there is no LNS objectServer activeX control needed. He told me that there are some German Company already use this kind of API to connect to Lonworks DDC.

I dont know that, but I heard we'll have OpenLNS with PcVue 11.0. They are one same thing or two different things?

Thx!

P.S: OpenLDV guide.

Hello,

Here is the answer from Jacques:

I can not answer quickly.
These are two different protocols: LonTalk and OpenLDV.
For me, OpenLDV is not managed by openlns which only supports LonTalk (over IP or not).
So these are two completely different things.

In addition, (but to be checked), there is no data modeling with OpenLDV. The frame that is received is a frame with a heterogeneous mapping that should be interpreted.
It is far from LNS but on the performance side it should probably be better.

Hello Florent,

Thanks for the answer. Do you/Jacques know whether we'll implement this kind of API?

It's not planned yet, and we probably won't do it just for one Customer (except if he pays for...)
