Customer have one PLC with dynamic Address and he can't change this behavior.
We think to use Scada instruction Cimway mode CFG to be abble to change the IP address, it works fine.
Tee issue is how to retrieve the IP address?
By doing a ping on the dyndns we are abble to have the IP address, but I don't know what to do with this, use file to store the dyndns ping ?
Do you have an idea ?
thanks
I would say ping your dyndns with output in a text file. Then you extract your IP from the file

It is interesting because I asked Manu this week about DYNDNS.
It advised me to use the command: nslookup hostname >>result.txt
And after you change your IP address with CIMWAY mode CFG.
One question : Why customer use Dynamic IP ?
In my case, it is because the telecom operator does not want to implement public fix IP.
It's the same with my customer. Telecom operator does want to proviee public fix IP.
What Anthony does not say is that his customer was in a very nice location(somewhere in the Pacific ocean 😉 )
.... So coding SCADA BASIC in that situation was more of a pleasure than a drag for him 😉
Indeed.
Morevover somebody took a picture from him:

Hello everybody!
I reattach this old thread: our Brazilian friends needs to use XBUS-IP-MASTER pointing many (100) PLCs using Dynamic IP (like DynDns).
In order to save me an headache, can you please provide me your script to parse the result of the nslookup file when you launch the command nslookup hostname >>result.txt ?
It seems to be not banal, since the lenght of the answer can vary and the row where the address is written can shift up & down.
Thanks a lot!! 🙂
Hi Filipo,
I have no script!
But if you have some file's examples I could do it for you => It will cost to you few glasses of Toscany wine 🙂
