Hello all,
I got a question from a customer, and they want to encrypt the PcVue project(at least the scripts which is the most valuable part) on the site. Because they are afraid that if somebody（especially their competitors）gets the project, they can open it(especially the scripts with algorithms).And that should not happen.
I have checked the PcVue and help file, there are only some sentence cover this issue: only cryptography for SCADA Basic with a special dongle (but not for the whole project).
Does somebody meet this kind of requirement from the customers? Do they need to pay more with this option?

Indeed it's a classic request here.
Unfortunately we don't have the complete feature. At least you can encrypt the Scada Basic but not VBA...

1. Has the configure/project/cryptography something to do with the one in the user-profile?
2. the cryptography was checked in the default-profile, it does not need the special dongle?
3. with the cryptography, it just for the users of the project or for the P folder? If the first one, then people can still open the scripts file with txt or notepad?

No. The cryptography right is only for administration.

I think cryptography feature depends on an option coded on the dongle.

It is encrypting all files in P folder.

【You mean PcVue has two kinds of cryptography: configure/project/cryptography for the administration while the one in user profile for SCADA Basic? But why the first one is gray when we click configure/project/cryptography?】

No, in the rights you configure a Profile to access configure/project/cryptography
But, even if you have the rights you need the option in the dongle I guess.
But, frankly speaking, I never tried it.

Just to end this ticket:
We got the answers from Nicolas D, it's more a sales issue than a technical issue(only for branded PcVue). See below:

Do you know how it works?
Yes, it concerns branded version of PcVue. We provide a encryption key to a customer so he can encrypt/decrypt SCADA BASIC programs.
- do we need a specific dongle?
Yes, the encryption key is encoded in the dongle.
A DEVCOMPLETE dongle is able to encrypt/decrypt SCADA BASIC program files.
A RUNTIME dongle is able to decipher in memory an encrypted program, but is not able to decrypt it to disk.
- do we provide encryption algorithm or the customer can input his?
We provide the key and the algorithm. When PcVue detects that the dongle contains an encryption key, a new menu appears allowing to encrypt/decrypt SCADA BASIC programs.

Yes (Schneider, Saint Louis Sucre at least)

Then if you own a dongle with the Cryptographic option, you will have access to the menu Configure --> Project --> Cryptography :
